996 Carrera 4S – Safari Projek Build
“Safari Projek was born from a love for Porsches and a hunger for adventure — and this one-of-a-kind build is the result.
Starting life as a 2003 Porsche 996 Carrera 4S, it was transformed into a Safari Projek rally-inspired machine, created by Johan de Bruyn and Phillip Visser, blending Porsche precision with off-road engineering.
What makes it special?
• Chassis & Suspension: Bespoke Safari Projek setup with Reiger shock absorbers, 7075 aircraft-grade aluminium components, chrome-moly rod ends, widened front track (+120mm), and ~200mm wheel travel.
• Protection: Full underbody aluminium skid plates (polyurethane coated), aluminium bash bumpers front and rear, and integrated inserts for serious off-road capability.
• Performance: Original 3.6L flat-six enhanced with performance headers and a custom decat exhaust system, delivering a thrilling soundtrack through centre-exit tips.
• Drivetrain: 6-speed gearbox with a Quaife limited-slip differential for stability on gravel and tarmac.
• Exterior: Finished in Martini Racing #18 livery with gloss orange accents, ducktail wing, aftermarket front & rear lights, 2x frog spotlights, roof rack with Thule basket, and satin black Fuchs-style 17” wheels with Falken tyres.
• Interior: Black leather with black stitching, retaining Porsche ergonomics but toughened for rally use.
Mileage & Paperwork:
• Low mileage since the transformation.
• All paperwork in order and up to date.
This is not just a Porsche. It’s a bespoke adventure machine, hand-built in South Africa, and the only one of its kind. Whether you’re carving through gravel backroads, showing it off at events, or just enjoying the sheer absurdity of a lifted 996 Carrera 4S, this Safari Projek Porsche is guaranteed to make a statement.

This isn't just a dealership; it's a museum where every car tells a story. From impeccably restored muscle cars to perfectly preserved European grand tourers, their inventory is diverse and of the highest quality. What truly sets them apart is the expertise and genuine passion of the staff, not only about the mechanics and history of the vehicles but also about the provenance and market value. There was zero pressure—just honest, excited discussion about classic cars. If you're serious about finding a rare, high-quality classic, or just want to spend an afternoon admiring automotive history, Wat Swaai Jy is the definitive place to go. A truly world-class operation.Posted on Mark GeddesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
