The legendary “Clown Shoe” — only this one is even more special. It is number 1 of 39 built.
This is a genuine AC Schnitzer BMW Z3 M Coupé, finished in silver and one of just 39 examples. Right-hand drive, fitted with a manual transmission and showing 101,000km, it is a rare opportunity to own one of BMW’s most distinctive modern classics.
The Z3 M Coupé has developed a serious following, and it is easy to understand why. The unmistakable shape, compact proportions and proper manual driving experience give it a character all of its own. Add the genuine AC Schnitzer treatment and this becomes a particularly difficult car to replace.
The silver exterior presents beautifully, and the overall condition is excellent. It has clearly been cared for and looks every bit as special as it should. The cabin, controls and driving position retain that wonderfully focused feel that made these cars so appealing in the first place.
She starts and runs well, drives exactly as she should and is ready to be enjoyed. The previous owner made a point of keeping the car in excellent mechanical and physical condition during his ownership. Get in and go.
There is no complete service history with the vehicle, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What is here, however, is a very well-presented, mechanically sorted and highly sought-after BMW that feels right on the road.
Good Z3 M Coupés are becoming increasingly difficult to find, particularly in right-hand drive with a manual transmission. Genuine AC Schnitzer examples sit in a category of their own.
What a car. Distinctive, rare and properly usable.
